Jerez Airport is a modern airport with the principal arrivals and departures areas on the ground floor. Ryanair introduced regular flights between Jerez Airport and London which helped to increase passenger numbers at the airport to 1. 1 million in 2004. The plane was piloted by Pierre Latécoère, who at the time was looking for sites in Spain to set up various airfields. Latécoère's objective was to create a commercial airline to link France to its African colonies via Spain and, later, to reach South America.
