The ERJ145 is a twin-engine, narrow-body, regional jet airliner developed and manufactured by Brazilian aviation company Embraer. Embraer began development of the ERJ145 in the late 1980s due to increased market interest in regional jets. The company based its initial design on its successful EMB 120 Brasilia, a turboprop-powered commuter aircraft. The design evolved over the subsequent years to the final basic configuration of the ERJ145. The company then developed two smaller members of the ERJ family from the ERJ145, the ERJ135 and the ERJ140.
The ERJ145 features a low-mounted main wing, a T-tail empennage, and fuselage-mounted engines. It measures 98 feet in length, stands 22 feet, 2 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 65 feet, 9 inches. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce turbofan engines. The aircraft has a range of 1,784 miles, a service ceiling of 37,000 feet above sea level, and it cruises at up to 531 miles per hour.
