The Schänis airfield (ICAO code LSZX) is a gliding airfield in Switzerland. It is located in the area of the St. Gallen municipality of Schänis in the Linth plain. Within Switzerland, the Schänis airfield is the largest location for gliding; over 150 active pilots are organized in various gliding groups. Among other things, Schänis offers the advantage of being in the immediate vicinity of the Alps, not being affected by the control zone of Zurich Airport, which is comparatively close by, and having daily flight operations. In 2007 and 2009, the Swiss Gliding Championships took place in Schänis. In addition, Schänis is a regular venue for regional championships. Since the summer of 2008, the Swiss Air Force has occasionally used the airspace north-east of Schänis for its Speer training area for Pilatus PC-21 flights. The originally planned minimum airspace altitude of 8,000 feet was raised to 10,000 feet (around 3,050 meters) above sea level after protests from glider pilots. Various gliding groups are based at the Schänis airfield, in particular the large Lägern gliding group (SG Läger), which was founded in 1935 as the Dübendorf gliding group in Dällikon in Zurich at the foot of the Lägern, but has been based in Schänis since 1965 due to the growing air traffic at Zurich Airport. The Schänis vintage car club (OCS) with vintage gliders and the Swiss Aerobatic Gliding Association (SAGA) are also based in Schänis.

At that time, designer, Ed Fisher flew the Zippy with a Cuyuna 430 dual carb engine, and a Winters 2:1 planetary gearbox. Over the next couple of years a full VW 1200 driving from the heavy end was fitted. Through, much of 1986, the aircraft was VW powered, while “debugging” flights took place. Green Sky Adventures had been interested in the Zippy's development from the early stages. By 1986, the Rotax Service Center was in serious need of a test platform with a broad speed range to explore the effects of variable loads on small engines in general, and Rotax 2-strokes, in particular. A deal was struck with Ed Fisher, and by late fall of that year, Green Sky Adventures were flying a Rotax 503 powered Zippy Sport, enjoying its handling and speeds to 120 mph. This Add-on is based on the VW variant.

After its retirement from the French military service in 2022 and more than 1. 000. 000 flight hours combined, it is time for the Transall to live a second life in Flight Simulator 2020!It accomplished thousands of missions, flew above hundreds of countries and has been involved in numerous humanitarian missions.
We just wanted to salute this Franco-German aviation emblem.
The development has been conducted along with real pilots and true Transall connoisseurs. A big thanks to the "Musée Européen de l'Aviation de Chasse" in Montélimar, France, that provided access to a retired French C-160R. By inspecting it in every details, we have been able to reproduce an accurate version of the aircraft.
We have put a lot of effort to improve even more our quality standards compared to our previous products. The great complexity of the aircraft and its military-designed systems forced us to adapt our development processes accordingly. Hence, our Transall includes a big amount of bespoke systems and does not re-use existing generic avionics from the simulator.

One of the most famous and distinctive jet trainer to ever have been used by the French Air Force, and today a real aerobatics companion appearing in airshows all around the world.
Based on the CM. 170 Magister featuring Marboré II engines, our aicraft has been built from the ground-up exclusively for MSFS 2020.
A very neat work allowed us to propose this detailed 3D model, one step above what you will commonly find in the game. A special attention was given to aircraft systems, and you will find custom behaviours for electrical, hydraulic, fuel and oxygen systems, amongst other things.
The CM. 170 Magister is a two-seat, twin-engine military jet trainer produced by French aviation company Fouga. The Magister took its first flight on July 23, 1952 and entered service in 1956. A total of 929 of the aircraft were built, and they served the militaries over a dozen countries, notably those of France, Germany, and Israel. While the Magister was employed primarily for pilot training, some were used in ground attack roles through the years, notably during the Six-Day War and in the Congo Crisis.
The CM. 170 features tandem seating, a main wing with tip tanks that has a span of 39 feet, 10 inches, and a V-tail empennage. Two Turbomeca Marboré IIA turbojets power the Magister, producing up to 880 pounds of thrust each. The jet has a maximum speed of 444 miles per hour, a range of 750 miles, and a ceiling of 36,000 feet above sea level.
With an endurance of up to 2 hours and 40 minutes, pilots have opportunity after opportunity to learn, hone, and perfect their aviation skills in the Fouga CM. 170 Magister. Sporty, fun, but also forgiving, this is a responsive craft offering versatility through a range of flight types, from leisurely sightseeing to aggressive aerobatics.
