The EC135 finally sounds like a turbine. This mod replaces the aircraft sound completely, inside and out, with recordings of a real EC135.
The stock EC135 sounds are flat and characterless. After the swap you hear two turbines that spool up separately, shut down separately, and let you abort a start.
What is this sound pack? A sound pack that completely replaces the stock EC135 sounds, inside and out, with recordings of a real EC135. It changes nothing about flight behavior and nothing about the visuals: the simulator flight model and the look of the aircraft stay untouched. It affects the EC135 only, every other helicopter stays untouched. Uninstalling restores the stock sounds.
Two turbines that do not run in lockstep
The engines are separate. You notice it immediately, because the two turbines do not run alike.
- Uneven start: the second engine does not spool up like the first
- Uneven shutdown: each turbine runs down on its own
- Single-engine taxi, audible as one turbine running alone
Abort the spool-up, like on the real aircraft
The start sequence can be aborted. You can stop the spool-up at any point, and the sound follows you.

- Smooth load changes instead of audible pitch jumps
Power you can hear
Rotor speed stays constant, the aircraft takes care of that itself. So what you hear is not the rotor speed but the work the turbines are doing: when the flight calls for more power, they work harder to hold that speed, and that is exactly what you hear at the very same moment. When less power is needed, they audibly ease off while the rotor speed stays up.
- More power: the turbines audibly dig in, the rotor speed stays the same
- Less power: the sound falls back just as clearly, the rotor speed stays up
- Climb, hover, descent: every load state sounds different, because the turbines have a different amount of work to do
- Turbine sound across every phase of flight: cold start, spool-up, idle, flight, shutdown
From the outside: the Fenestron and two turbines
The Fenestron, the shrouded tail rotor of the EC135, is what makes it recognizable. That exact sound is brought out in the exterior mix, not just carried along.

Note: package order in the package library
It can happen that the package order has to be set by hand for the sound to take effect. This refers to the settings in the simulator under the package library. The installer walks you through it with a confirmation dialog. If you set it by hand, do this once:
- Open General Options, Advanced Options, Package Order Tool
- Enable the tool and clear the "Scenery packages only" checkbox
- Search for "135"
- Move the FWX Sound Pack below the Nemeth Design EC135
- Restart the simulator

What is this package? Three add-ons for helicopters in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, with the flight dynamics at their heart. It does not move the camera, it moves the machine: every reaction is generated in the same moment from the simulator's flight data and your control inputs. The simulator's flight model is not replaced, it stays in force. The flight dynamics work on every helicopter, the rotor shadow on seven types, and the rotor blade haptics work through an audio device in your seat.
The flight dynamics: the hover and the flight becomes work again
Over the spot you are aiming for, the machine no longer holds itself there. It wants to be held, and it shows you that every second. Pitch, roll and climb follow the actual attitude of the aircraft, and your control inputs have an immediate effect on its behavior.
Seamlessly on into translational flight
The transition from the hover into translational flight is seamless, with no jump and no switching. Every direction is treated the same way: forward, sideways, backward. The aerodynamic influences and the pilot's influences become clearly noticeable.
Everything happens in the same moment
Airspeed, attitude, control deflection: every reaction is generated continuously from the simulator's flight data and your inputs, at every moment of the flight. Nothing is pre-calculated, nothing is played back.
The simulator's flight model stays in force
We do not replace it. It keeps calculating exactly as intended, our technology reads those values and adds extra motion on top. Everything is executed by the simulator itself. The original data is left untouched.
Tuned to your machine and your taste
You decide how far it goes, and you decide it in flight. That applies to every helicopter in the simulator, including types from other developers.

This part brings the shadow of the turning rotor back to where the simulator drops it. On seven well-known types it is there at first and then disappears completely above a certain rotor speed. For exactly those seven the package brings it back, following the rotor speed: on the ground, on the fuselage and on the surroundings, tilting with the machine, main and tail rotor shown separately instead of one dark blob. Each of the seven types has been calibrated individually for it.

The haptics make the rotor felt in your own body. They send the rotor beats as deep pulses to an audio device that works in the seat or on the seat frame and that Windows recognizes as a playback device. So you do not just hear the rotor, you feel it, and every type feels different.
In detail: instead of a uniform hum that feels like a washing machine, you feel every single blade passage. The beat follows the real rotor speed, with two to eight pulses per revolution depending on the type, from the two-bladed R66 to the six-bladed S-64 Skycrane.
All of the simulator's stock helicopters are included automatically, you do not have to set anything up for that. On helicopters from other developers the haptics detect the rotor blades on their own, and anyone who still wants to do it themselves can set them by hand there. Without such an audio device, though, there is nothing to feel. If you do not want to use the haptics, you leave them off and still have the full package.
Based on our market overview, there is currently nothing for MSFS 2024 that makes helicopter flight behavior more immersive and adjustable in this form.

What it cannot do
- It does not replace any flight model and does not rewrite any flight model files.
- The flight dynamics work on helicopters only, not on airplanes.
- The rotor shadow works on the seven types listed only, all others are left untouched.
- The UH-1 and the Bell 407 do not need it, they have their rotor shadow out of the box.
- For the haptics you need an audio device in the seat or on the seat frame that Windows recognizes as a playback device. Without such an audio device there is nothing to feel.
- The pulses go to that audio device as an audio signal, not to your speakers.
- This package changes nothing about the simulator's sound.

- Compatible with ChasePlane and FSRealistic: those two work on camera and sound, this package works on the flight behavior underneath. Camera tools apply their values on top, undisturbed.
- No changes to the aircraft files.

Operated from the toolbar inside the simulator, in mid-flight
A full control panel sits in the simulator's toolbar, exactly where you open every other panel as well. One click and it is in the cockpit in front of you. In the FWX Manager each of the three add-ons has its own tab, each with a master switch and the sliders below it. Every slider takes effect immediately, without a restart. No second window, no switching to the desktop.
VR compatible
In virtual reality everything works exactly the same, because we move the machine and not the picture. And because the panel sits inside the simulator, it stays reachable with the headset on: adjust in flight without taking the headset off.
Installation and uninstallation
Installation runs through a click-through installer, and the package then starts automatically with the simulator. You can uninstall in two ways: through our own FWX application or through the Windows program list.
Updates
Free updates, new features included. If another helicopter without a rotor shadow appears in the simulator, it is added free of charge with an update.

The flight dynamics: how the machine handles, not how the camera moves
Flight dynamics is the heart of this bundle. Your helicopter stops holding itself in the hover. It comes alive under you and asks to be flown.
Pitch, roll and climb follow the actual attitude, and your control inputs take effect immediately. Hover and forward flight can be adjusted separately, every axis can be switched on its own, and the strength is infinitely variable from zero to full, at any second of the flight.
Handling, shadow and blade beats are not precomputed: they are built live from flight data, control inputs and the real rotor speed. The sound part's strength lies elsewhere: recordings of a real EC135 instead of the flat stock sounds.
The turbine sound: real recordings instead of the stock sounds
The sound part replaces the EC135 sounds completely, inside and out, with recordings of a real EC135: cold start, spool-up, idle, flight, shutdown. It is the only part of the bundle that works on the EC135 alone.

- The sound follows the work of the turbine, not the rotor speed: the governor, which holds the rotor speed constant by itself, keeps it steady while the turbine has to work harder as soon as more power is needed. From outside the characteristic twin-turbine whine, plus rotor downwash, flyby and hover. And above all the Fenestron, the shrouded tail rotor of the EC135: its sound is the signature of this type, and that is exactly how you hear it from outside.
The rotor shadow: the shadow that disappears above a certain rotor speed
The rotor shadow part covers seven well-known types, all other helicopters have their shadow anyway. A rotor turns above the pilot, yet on these seven its shadow disappears completely in the simulator above a certain rotor speed: visible while starting, then suddenly gone once the rotor is up to speed. This bundle gives it back: it turns with the real rotor speed, tilts with the machine and shows main and tail rotor separately, so two shadows instead of one dark blob. Every type is individually calibrated.

The haptics: feel the rotor in your body, not just hear it
The haptics make the rotor felt in your own body. They send the rotor beats as deep pulses to an audio device that Windows recognizes as a playback device and that works in your seat or on your seat frame. So you feel the rotor instead of only hearing it, and every type feels different.
In detail: every single blade pass instead of one steady hum. The rhythm follows the real rotor speed, two to eight pulses per revolution depending on the type.
- On start-up, single blade beats slow enough to count
- At mid rotor speed the uneven clatter of drooping blades
- At full speed one continuous, calm bass beat
- Rotor brake with a run-down you can feel
- Every stock helicopter in the simulator is covered automatically, from the two-bladed R66 to the six-bladed S-64 Skycrane. There is nothing for you to set up
- Third-party helicopters can be adjusted individually, although the rotor blade detection works on them as well
Sliders for volume, bass and pulse strength, plus device selection if you have several outputs. Without such an audio device there is nothing to feel.
Four parts, one flight
The four add-ons are independent of each other and do not interfere with each other. Flight dynamics and rotor shadow each have a master switch, on and off at any time, in mid-flight. If you only want to hover, turn the flight dynamics down smoothly. And if you do not want the haptics, leave them off and you still have the full bundle.
Based on our market overview there is currently nothing for MSFS 2024 that makes helicopter flight behavior more immersive and adjustable in this form. From the makers of the FWX EC135 Sound Mod, reviewed by SimFlight, Threshold, MSFS Addons and MSFS Gateway.
