Welcome to Sandtoft Airfield for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Located 7 miles away from our main site at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Sandtoft Airfield is the home to Yorkshire Aero Club’s satellite base. The airfield is located a short 7 minute drive from Junction 5 of the M18 motorway, making it easily accessible by road. In addition to our training facility, the airfield benefits from having an onsite cafe which is open 7 days a week. The cafe is situated right next to the runway and h... Located 7 miles away from our main site at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Sandtoft Airfield is the home to Yorkshire Aero Club’s satellite base. The airfield is located a short 7 minute drive from Junction 5 of the M18 motorway, making it easily accessible by road. In addition to our training facility, the airfield benefits from having an onsite cafe which is open 7 days a week. The cafe is situated right next to the runway and has an outside area, perfect for viewing the aircraft take-off and land. This makes an ideal vantage spot for those customers undertaking introductory lessons, should they have friends and family attending with them to wave them off as they take to the skies.
The history of Sandtoft dates back to 1944 when the airfield was an RAF base for the Halifax and Lancaster bombers. Nowadays the airfield sports an 886m tarmac runway with runway lights so can be utilised during both day and night. Due to the airfield having less restrictive access in comparison to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Sandtoft is the ideal location for those who are already qualified and wish to undertake aircraft self fly hire. As part of the Yorkshire Aero Club annual membership, our members now benefit from free landing fees at Sandtoft.
