Antarctica Vol. 2 - Australian Casey and Skiways

The second volume of our popular Antarctica series covers the Australian Antarctic Casey on the opposite side of the continent, right on the mainland: A region of vast glaciers extending for thousands of miles into the continent.
We have included a large area of coastal landscape with its typical penguin colonies, icebergs and – of course – a very detailed base with its helipad and a lot to discover. Take off from here using a helicopter, try to stay low above the detailed rugged terrain, maneuver your way through icebergs and find one of the two icebreakers operating here.
If you’re more into fixed wing operations, no matter if low and slow or high and fast, you can choose between two skiways: The Casey Skiway on the glacier a few kilometers above the base for medium distance operations or the Wilkins Aerodrome about 70 kilometers to the south – well known for its A319-115LR passenger flights (yes, that’s an Airbus on ice!) or C-17 cargo flights between here and Australia.
Detailed Casey Station with all buildings, a lot of clutter and extremely detailed terrain
Wilkins Aerodrome Skiway 70 km south of the base (intercontinental and continental operations)
Casey Skiway (continental operations)
Lots of animations including animals, vehicles, boats and people, including probably the first animated penguins and chain vehicles in MSFS
Plenty of custom created sounds of animals and vehicles
Coverage beyond the base with aerial imagery at various resolutions along the coast
Hundreds of thousands of animated icebergs in a larger area around the base
Adelie penguin colonies with thosands and thousands of animals at their real-world locations (performance optimized through instancing)
An impressive custom fleet of typical animated and static vehicles and clutter
Carefully crafted landscape to merge with surrounding terrain
Including updated waterbodies
Special technique used to bypass ground resolution limitation imposed by MSFS, giving the skiway ground textures a much more detailed layout than most airport add-ons
Special technique used to add wind shear details to the vast white lands on the glacier
Extensive manual with detailed information on flying in Antarctica

This scenery pack overhauls your experience of Perth, covering the waterline all the way from Two Rocks north of the city down to Wannanup some 70km further south. Experience a busy harbour, a lively city leisure boating scene at Melville water or local ferries zipping back and forth between Fremantle, Perth City and Rottnest Island.
Containing almost 8,000 static and animated vessels we have carefully recreated the many marinas in and around the area which includes a variety of sailing clubs, industrial areas and HMAS Stirling naval base. HMAS Stirling is home to a number of Anzac Class Frigates of the Royal Australian Navy and you will find these patrolling the coast. Each of these have helidecks and for an extra challenge you will be able to land on them too. Head to the Western Australia Maritime Museum in Fremantle to find one of Australia's earliest submarine's, HMAS Ovens in her resting place. Well over 100 leisure boats of all types work their way from Two Rocks down to Wannaup and Mandurah in the south, bringing the area to life. Further offshore you will find a variety of cargo and utility ships en route to their various destinations. The scenery includes a range of minor fixes including raised bridges and various water fixes.
Note: The free Vessels Core library is required. The Contrail App will install this automatically for you.
Tips:
Set ground wind to 3m/s (7 knots) or above for the more realistic waves and wakes.
Adjusting the time slightly can reload the boat traffic fully if it seems too low on first starting a flight (known MSFS bug).
Features:
High Quality Models
Night and Navigation Lighting
Wake and Smoke VFX
Animated Ships
Rottnest Island Ferry Services
Landable, Moving Ships
100km of Coastline (not counting the Swan River)
Museum Ship HMAS Ovens

M. , Livio Bassi. There is also a Forward Operating Base (NATO Forward Operating Base) in the military zone. The civil airport, located in a fraction of area separated from the military base, began operations in the sixties, when the new military airport were also transferred civil flights, operated by Alitalia, to Palermo, Pantelleria and Tunis, previously operated from Trapani-Chinisia airport. In 1964 connections with Naples and Rome-Fiumicino began, while in June of the same year ATI inaugurated its flights to Pantelleria and Palermo. Then the flight to Milan Linate was added. On 4 May 2011, the Board of Directors of ENAC approved the decision to grant the total thirty-year management of Trapani Airport in favor of the management company Airgest S. p. A. The airport is classified as "military open to civil air traffic", so the flight assistance services (radio assistance, air traffic, meteorology) are provided by the personnel of the 37th Wing of the Italian Air Force to civil aircraft. The airline Albastar creates its own hub at the Vincenzo Florio with flights to Naples, Ancona, Brindisi, Parma, Trieste and Perugia. The Danish airline Dat confirms its flights to the island of Pantelleria while Corendon Airlines to Amsterdam. Ryanair confirms its new leadership at the airport with 22 routes, touching Italian cities such as Bologna, Pisa, Venice, Milan and Rome and international as Brussels, Frankfurt, Malta, London, Seville and Manchester. In 2023 the volume of passenger traffic was almost 1,300,000 people. The military airport, located on the provincial road, is named after the lieutenant pilot Livio Bassi, gold medal for military valor. It is home to the 37th Air Force Wing since 1984. Inside the military airport is operational base NAEW & CF FOB (NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Force - Advanced Base of Operations). Founded in 1986, it is home to the Boeing E-3 Sentry Aircraft Surveillance and Control System.

Another interesting curiosity is that Christchurch has a rich aviation history. During World War II, the city was an important air base for the Allied forces, with several air units based in the region. After the war, civil aviation developed rapidly, with Christchurch Airport becoming a major air transport hub for New Zealand and the South Pacific.
Today, aviation remains an important part of Christchurch's economy, with several international airlines operating flights to Christchurch International Airport. In addition, the city is home to an aviation museum, the Canterbury Aviation Museum, which displays a fascinating collection of historic aircraft and aviation equipment.

Between 1971 and 2015, with the creation of the Santa Maria Air Force Base, civil and military facilities were shared. However, in 2015 an agreement between the Brazilian Air Force and the Municipality of Santa Maria, transferred part of the facilities to the latter. The civil portion of the aerodrome is administered by the Municipality and the military portion by the Brazilian Air Force. It shares a modern new control tower
At this moment there is only one regular airline using the airport, this is Azul Brazilian Airlines flying to Porto Alegre.
Santa Maria has two runway:
Runway 11-29 8839'
Runway 02-20 4938' (only used by the military)
The airport has an ILS approach for Runway 11 110. 3 'ISM'
Various military types use the airport including the AMX Jet trainer and C130 Hercules aircraft, but the C130 is now being phased out in favour of the new Embraer KC390 transport/tanker aircraft.
