Some tourists (even virtual) can also visit the city by using the airport, that is only 2,5km away from city centre, and once served multiple international routes and direct flights to the capital of Latvia - Riga.
Airport ceased its commercial operations due to 2008 economic crisis, airBaltic buying new, modern aircraft, and lack of financation. However, airport is requalified for VFR flights both day and night time. airBaltic Pilot Academy Students use this airport as one of the summer bases for students, and for training night VFR flights.
While at this point, many locals consider airport is only used for drag - race championships, it's wrong! Of course, some dates of the year, the airport is closed to host an amazing drag-race festival that developers of this airport were lucky to visit!
Overall, this is a great, unknown to many people region in the Baltic States, that is surely a piece of beauty, and wonderful coastal airport, that sometimes has challenging winds on the approach. So be careful, and don't mess with residents of "Gāliņciems" with that engine sound!

ESOK Karlstad airport was opened in 1997 and had many regional connections to main cities in Sweden and other Nordic countries. It was also used as an alternate airport for Oslo Gardermoen in case of bad weather. Today it is used mainly by a few charter companies flying to holiday destinations in south of Europe. I have built every building in Blender and based them on image information from internet sources. Therefore there may be inaccuracies. The textures are all PBR meaning there are normalmaps and maps for reflections. You also get the Glider club with a grass strip, hangars and club house.

... Exploring the Catering Truck in Microsoft Flight Simulator
The simulation experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator has taken a new edge in immersion and ground exploration, thanks to the collaboration between Marine RM and Microsoft. Now we will meet the MAN TGM 18. 250 truck in the 4x2 Catering Truck version, which provides players with a unique experience of driving and interacting on the ground. The engine power of 250Bhp is accurately reproduced in accelerations and at top speed.
The main feature of this vehicle is the cargo trailer lift system, which the player has full control over the mechanism, allowing you to adjust it according to the height of the boarding gate of several airline aircraft in operation. Upon entering the cab of the truck, the player is greeted by a detailed and well-designed interior for an enjoyable simulation. Details such as the dashboard instruments and passenger seats have been faithfully reproduced to offer an authentic VR simulation feel. Here, among the truck's features, the parking brake, direction arrows, external lighting (automatic when driving the vehicle), internal lighting and automated sequential shift are listed as operational functions, providing an immersive and practical driving experience. to the player on Xbox, for example.
Inside the truck, players find palletized loads that can be managed through the "Payload" menu during the simulation. This adds an additional layer of realism, allowing players to take control of the logistical operations related to catering the aircraft. The sound systems are also a good highlight, based on the sound of the truck in its real world version. This means that players will be immersed in an authentic soundscape, from the roar of the engine to the sounds of ignition and general operations, which enriches the simulation. In short, Catering Truck for Microsoft Flight Simulator is a milestone in ground vehicle simulation in an aeronautical environment. The attention to detail, from the Lift functionality to the detailed interior and authentic sounds, make this a must-have addition for those looking for a new challenge to their simulation experience.

You need to find and open the folder called "Community"
Copy the folder "marinerm-catering-truck" you just extracted to the Community folder.
Start the game and the "Marine RM Catering Truck" will be in its hangar ready to sail!
HOW TO PLAY:
Thrust lever controls the pedal for acceleration
Wheel brakes to stop the vehicle **attention here** Yoke to control the steering wheel left and right - not the rudder/therefore it is necessary to
make sure Settings > Assistance Options > Auto Rudder > On
Parking Brake lever activates or deactivates this function
Flaps control the lift system of the cargo trailer, but there is no such lever in the truck cabin, as this control lever is outside the truck, being
necessary to control the Lift through the controls, which causes greater comfort and practicality in a way generalnnLeft and right blinkers,
cargo trailer doors and interior lighting are controlled from the steering wheel or truck cab.

We’ve been steadily working on an all new way to create airplanes called “Accu-Sim 2. 0”. Our long time customers know Accu-Sim well as it’s been powering our airplanes for over a decade. During that time we’ve learned a lot. While this new technology carries the same Accu-Sim name, this latest version was built brand new from a clean slate.
We are so very happy to say, we have succeeded in everything we set out to do. We didn’t cut any corners and this brand new Accu-Sim technology represents everything we dreamed of. Perhaps the biggest dream and challenge was to create a new aerodynamics system that allowed us to model how an airplane flies through the air. It’s the kind of simulation we knew was possible but wasn’t yet realized. Nobody has done anything like this before. This represents a quantum leap for us, and it’s the beginning of a whole new way of developing airplanes for flight simulation.
I decided early on the first airplane we had to simulate with Accu-Sim 2. 0 would be the Comanche 250, as this is an airplane I have owned and operated for over 10 years. It feels like a nice pair of shoes that are perfectly broken in yet still look good. During development I was continuously asking questions without acceptable answers, and our Comanche gave us every answer we asked. Owning the airplane offers tremendous advantages as you don’t need to ask permission or explain why you need to perform some odd sounding test. None of our testing was dangerous but much of it involved things nobody, including me had ever done before. There is a reason I have owned and operated a Comanche 250, N6229P for over a decade, and now through Accu-Sim 2. 0, you can better understand why. ”

The secret to this aircraft’s success is its counterrotating propellers. Since left and right propellers spin in opposite directions, the adverse aerodynamic effects of a failed engine are reduced because there’s no “critical engine. ”
Twin engine, four seats, 360 HP (180 HP each engine), cruise speed of 160 KTS and a maximum range of 915 NM are its main features.

The airport includes a single terminal with a jetway with air service that is operated for a whole year by Alaska Airlines and seasonally by Delta Air Lines regional affiliate Delta Connection which is operated by SkyWest Airlines. The single paved runway is located on a causeway that juts off Japonski Island—buried on airport grounds patients who died from tuberculosis from the nearby SEARHC/Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital had to be relocated during construction. That section of the airport is, by this day, unofficially referred to as The Mausoleum.
Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport is located at an elevation of approximately 26 feet (8 meters) above mean sea level. The property includes one runway designated 11/29 with an asphalt surface measuring 7,200 by 150 feet (2,195 x 46 m). For one year, ending January 2, 2011, the facility had 23,100 aircraft operations, that on average, equals 63 per day. 43% of them represent air taxi, 8% scheduled commercial, 43% general aviation, and 6% military. At that time, there were thirty aircraft based at this airport, with 70% of them single-engine, 10% military, 13% ultralight, and 7% multi-engine.
SIT also has hangars and offices that serve local air traffic control, together with the Civil Air Patrol, and various private enterprises. U. S. Coast Guard Air Station Sitka has a complex attached to the Sitka Rocky Safety hazards involve ocean waves washing onto the runway during high winds, storms due to its exposed location, and significant flocks of birds that live very close to the airport. Because of these hazards, the airport is listed by airfarewatchdog. com as one of the ten most thrilling landing experiences in the world.
Alaska Airlines has served Sitka for about fifty years. In 1967, Alaska Air was operating Boeing 727-100 jet service into the facility on a round trip from Seattle to Kotzebue and was also operating flights with Convair 240 propliner service nonstop to Juneau. By 1969, Alaska Air had added a few stops on the route between Seattle and Alaska. It was operating a Boeing 727-100 jetliner on a round trip routing from Seattle to Sitka and the final destination at Kotzebue in addition to working Convair 240 service on a round trip routing of Annette Island Airport - Wrangell - Petersburg - Sitka - Juneau. Over the years, Alaska Air also operated Boeing 727-200 and 737-200 jets into the airport before switching to later model Boeing 737 jetliners. In 1986, Anchorage-based AirPac was working jet service into SIT with a British Aerospace BAe 146-100 aircraft that was flying a round trip routing of Seattle - Sitka - Anchorage.
Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Alaska Seaplanes now operate in the airport.
The main plane on this route is a Boeing 737-700 passenger, cargo, and mixed modification by Alaska Airlines.
