KOLN Butzweilerhof 1935 Eddk
The civilian airport opened in 1926 and was renovated to include a passenger building, workshops, two hangars and a control tower in June 1936, a few weeks before the Berlin Olympics.
Butzweilerhof was the second largest airport in Germany after Berlin Tempelhof and was nicknamed Luftkreuz des Westens (Air Traffic Control of the West).
