VARRELBUSCH ( IATA code : EDWU ) is a German airfield in Lower Saxony and has the status of a commercial airfield . The airfield is located about seven kilometers from Cloppenburg, in the district of Staatsforsten. The gliding department is located at the Varrelbusch airfield with several buildings, a variety of different aircraft and an area of more than 1100m².
The Cloppenburg Air Sports Club (LSV) was founded in 1954 and is one of the oldest flying clubs in Germany. This airport is also often referred to as the “Texas Airport”. The motor flight department currently has an impressive 85 members and has 5 club aircraft stationed at the airfield.
The airfield is also used as a jumping site by the Wildeshausen skydiving club
