Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (IATA: DCA, ICAO: KDCA, FAA LID: DCA), is located in Arlington, Virginia, next to the border of Washington, D. C. It is the smaller of two airports operated by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority that serve the National Capital Region around Washington.
The airport is 5 miles (8. 0 km) from downtown Washington D. C. . The airport's original name was Washington National Airport. Congress adopted the present name to honor President Ronald Reagan in 1998. The airport served almost 24 2million passengers in 2019.
Flights into and out of the airport are generally not allowed to exceed 1,250 statute miles (2,010 km) in any direction nonstop, in an effort to send coast-to-coast and overseas traffic to Washington Dulles International Airport, though there are 40 slot exemptions to this rule.
Planes are required to take unusually complicated paths to avoid restricted and prohibited airspace above sensitive landmarks, government buildings, and military installations in and around Washington, D. C. , and to comply with some of the tightest noise restrictions in the country.
The airport's small size constrains its capacity, but Reagan National currently serves 98 nonstop destinations. Reagan is a hub for American Airlines. The airport has no United States immigration and customs facilities; the only scheduled international flights at the airport are those from airports with U. S. Customs and Border Protection preclearance facilities, which generally encompasses flights from major airports in Canada and from some destinations in the Caribbean.
Other international passenger flights to the Washington, D. C. , area use Washington Dulles International Airport or Baltimore–Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. There are currently five scheduled international routes, which are to cities in Canada, the Bahamas, and Bermuda.
The airport opened June 16, 1941, just before U. S. entry into World War II. Until 1946 nonstop airline flights didn't reach beyond New York, Detroit, Cincinnati, Memphis, Atlanta and Jacksonville. In 1946 Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Miami were added; nonstops reached Denver in 1951 and Los Angeles in 1954.
The April 1957 Official Airline Guide shows 316 weekday departures. Jet flights began in April 1966 (727-200s were not allowed until 1970). In 1974 the airport's key carriers were Eastern (20 destinations), United (14 destinations after subsuming Capital) and Allegheny (11 destinations).
Reagan National Airport has some of the strictest noise restrictions in the country. In addition, due to security concerns, the areas surrounding the National Mall and U. S. Naval Observatory in central Washington are prohibited airspace up to 18,000 feet (5,500 m). Due to these restrictions, pilots approaching from the north are generally required to follow the path of the Potomac River and turn just before landing.
This approach is known as the River Visual. Similarly, flights taking off to the north are required to climb quickly and turn left. The "River Visual" is only possible with a ceiling of at least 3,500 feet (1,100 m) and visibility of 3 statute miles (4. 8 km) or more. There are lights on the Key Bridge, Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, Arlington Memorial Bridge and the George Mason Memorial Bridge to aid pilots following the river.

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (IATA: GDN, ICAO: EPGD) is an international airport located 12 km (7. 5 mi) northwest of Gdańsk, Poland. Since 2004 the airport has been named after the former Polish president. With around 5 million passengers served annually, it is the 3rd largest airport in Poland, after EPWA and EPKK, in terms of passenger traffic.
The first civilian airport in Gdansk was set up after World War I following the adaptation of the military airfield built in 1910 in the Wrzeszcz district of Gdańsk, formerly known as Langfuhr. That airport was administered by the Senate of the Free City of Gdansk. Since that date, the airport adapted its role and status and its dynamic expansion resulted in the acquisition of new areas and infrastructure changes. In the 1920s Gdansk Airport was transformed into an international airport, also servicing transit flights. It was used by airplanes flying in a variety of companies, including the German-Russian Airlines DERULUFT, with flights between Berlin, Leningrad, and Moscow. The very favorable aviation conditions provided for by the airport in Gdansk enabled the launch of regular flights between Gdansk and Warsaw, Szczecin, Elblag, Malbork, Königsberg (now Kaliningrad), Olsztyn, and Berlin. The first regular Polish air service was launched on September 5th, 1922. It was provided by the Aerolloyd company. It employed Junkers F-13 type planes with twice daily flights on the Gdansk-Warsaw-Lwow route.
The first Polish airport built completely from scratch was launched on May 2nd, 1974 in Gdansk-Rębiechowo. Located on the Wysoczyzna Kaszubska upland, 10 kilometers west of Gdansk and 23 kilometers south of Gdynia, and occupying 240 ha, it created significant market potential for the servicing of air transport. Alongside the political and industrial changes, the airport changed, too. From 1993, the Gdansk Airport company was transformed into a profit-oriented commercial company with an organizational structure fully complying with those that govern business activity in European Union countries.

The Tiger Moth first flew in 1931 and quickly became a commercially successful aircraft (8,868 produced) and was the primary military trainer for many Commonwealth nations leading up to and during World War II. After the war many of those Tiger Moths went into private ownership and became a popular training aircraft at flight clubs. Even today there are still around 650 airworthy Tiger Moths and it is arguably the most famous biplane ever built.
Special thank you to Bev and Steve from Tiger Moth Byron Bay. This model is based largely on their VH-PCG aircraft which they were kind enough to let me record sounds and photograph. If you are in Byron Bay then you should make a booking for a scenic or aerobatic flight. They are located just north of Byron Bay at Tyagarah airfield.
FEATURES
- Highly detailed model. Fully modelled aircraft including the engine and pilot and copilot models.
- Includes 10 different repaints
- Full manual engine start procedure including engine priming and propeller pull.
- Autostart is supported for those who would like a quick engine start.

The P-51 D , built by North American Aviation is a single-seat low wing aircraft powered by a ( under licence ) Packard built Rolls Royce Engine. Originally designed as part of a proposal to design a a completely new fighter from ground up the P51 saw a number of roles during the second world war and in fact well into the 50’s and the advent of the jet age.
The P-51 was not without its problems. In particular the earlier version suffered from a problem with vision especially to the rear and a lacklustre performance. This was remedied with a bubble canopy and the addition of the Merlin engine.
First seeing action with the RAF the American armed forces were to take up the majority of the use during latter stages of WW2. Merlin powered Mustangs were to start their first of many missions to escort long range bombers in mid-December 1943. The P51-D’s were to prove superior to the premier german fighters of the time the Me-109 and the Fw-190 . About 13 000 Merlin powered Mustangs were produced in the United states. They continued to serve past the WW2’s end and some were even used in a ground attack role during the Korean war. They last saw combat in the 1969 “Soccer War “. Now they can be found either in racing guise or as highly restored examples at airshows throughout the world.

Palma de Mallorca Airport (Catalan: Aeroport de Palma de Mallorca, Spanish: Aeropuerto de Palma de Mallorca; IATA: PMI, ICAO: LEPA; also known as Son Sant Joan Airport or Aeroport de Son Sant Joan) is an international airport located 8 km (5. 0 mi) east of Palma, Majorca, Spain, adjacent to the village of Can Pastilla. The airport on the Balearic Islands is Spain's third largest airport after Madrid–Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat. Palma de Mallorca was used by 27. 9 million passengers in 2017. The airport is the main base for the Spanish carrier Air Europa and also a focus airport for Ryanair, EasyJet, Vueling and Jet2. com. The airport shares runways with the nearby Son Sant Joan Air Force Base, operated by the Spanish Air Force.
Following a decline in passenger numbers at the airport following the September 11 attacks in 2001, numbers rose steadily between 2002 and 2007 when traffic peaked at 23. 2 million passengers, however from 2007 there has been a decline in passenger numbers with 21. 1 million using the airport in 2010. Today, Palma de Mallorca airport carries over 29. 7 million passengers to their destinations, with 178,253 aircraft movements, mostly to mainland Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom.
In November 2015, Air Berlin (1978 - 2017) announced that it would shut down its hub operations at the airport which it had maintained for over ten years. All seven domestic connection routes to the mainland - such as flights to Valencia, Bilbao and Sevilla - as well as the route to Faro in Portugal ceased during spring 2016.
During the Summer months the dual-runway airport handles as many movements as London–Gatwick, and on the busiest day of the week as much as 1,100 movements - almost as many as London–Heathrow, the busiest in Europe. According to the operational data provided by AENA, the airport can handle 66 movements per hour or during a 24-hour operational period, almost 1,600 aircraft movements.

At the end of the conflict, Grumman revisited the civilian concept for the airframe and released the G-44A Widgeon. The G-44A, with seating for six including the pilot, quickly became well-known as a reliable, durable machine eminently capable of operation from both land and water, notably in austere and remote areas like those of Alaska. nnThe Widgeon is driven by two wing-mounted Ranger 6-440-C5 six-cylinder engines that each produce 200 horsepower. The airplane has a maximum speed of 160 miles per hour, a climb rate of 1,750 feet per minute, and a ceiling of 18,000 feet above sea level. nnA classic gem in the history of aviation, the Grumman G-44A Widgeon allows pilots to access the sky from either land or water, and do so confidently. From inside the cockpit of the burly machine, aviators can launch into the heights from a modern airport, then touch down on a river deep in the backcountry, then leap again into the air from the shore. A go-anywhere craft, the Widgeon provides one of the rarest opportunities to be found in the world of aviation, one that combines piloting with exploration.
