A huge number of fully voiced action missions are also included with STORM. You will go in search of hurricanes, collect geological data and transport vital equipment all whilst trying to avoid any emergency situations.
If action missions are too fast paced for you, take a more educational approach with the included airliner routes. Your co-pilot will give you all the information you need to know about the hurricane you’re about to fly over.
In a first for Microsoft Flight Simulator, STORM includes an interactive manual. A full audio tour written by a Natural Hazards Specialist is also included, this tour will teach you about hurricanes, their formation, and the destruction they cause.

The module was written in such a way that any aircraft, stock or addon, can use the catapults and arrestor cables without any modification to the aircraft itself. ... The carrier module is the first aircraft carrier with functioning catapults and arrestor cables made for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
We set out to design a beautiful and functional aircraft carrier to be used with the vast number of military aircraft addons slated to launch for MSFS. The module was written in such a way that any aircraft, stock or addon, can use the catapults and arrestor cables without any modification to the aircraft itself. The carriers work great in multiplayer.
The carrier module includes two components included in a simple self-installer:
- Scenery - 5 static, detailed Nimitz Class aircraft carriers positioned around the world
- Software - HDS Carrier Module to enable catapult and arrestor cable functionality
This addon does not include any aircraft, however, it works with any stock or addon aircraft you already have.
The addon is simple to use. Once installed you simply run the HDS Carrier Module software in the background while you fly.
Catapult Launch - ***CRASHES MUST BE DISABLED***
The add-on detects when you are lined up for a catapult launch. Your launch speed is automatically calculated based on the physics of your aircraft, meaning the module works with every aircraft from a Cessna to fighter jets to 747s. To launch the aircraft you simply set the parking brake, set full thrust, and release the parking brake to be launch off the deck.
Arrestor Cable Landing
Due to the current limitations of the SDK provided by Microsoft, tailhooks are not yet supported in the game. HDS Carrier Module currently assumes your tailhook is extended at all times (we will update this as the SDK improves). To trigger an arrestor cable landing, simply line up with the runway, and land within the arrestor cables. HDS physics simulates the arrestor cable physics to bring the aircraft to a stop.
FLOS - Optical Landing System
An optical landing system has been implemented into the software which will appear when on approach to the carrier. The FLOS provides vertical guidance in reference to the glidepath that the aircraft is on. If the FLOS "ball" is above the two bright green datum lines, the aircraft is above the flight path. Similiary if the "ball" is below the green datum lines, the aircraft is below the glidepath. You can enable and disable FLOS from the HDS software window. You can drag the FLOS around on your screen and HDS will remember it's position for the next approach.
Aircraft carriers have been positioned in various locations around the globe. Over time more locations may be added as we continue to update the addon.

VFR 01. BASIC VFR
We’ll focus on introducing you to basic aircraft handling skills. Get the weather information from the Automated Terminal Information Service (ATIS) and coordinate with ATC to depart Liverpool, following the Entry/Exit route known as “Mersey Lane” to Seaforth at the control zone (CTR) boundary, before practicing some basic handling once in uncontrolled airspace.
VFR 02. APPROACH
Get your first introduction to the approach and landing attitudes before re-entering the control zone, navigating visually between VRPs and completing an approach.
VFR 03. CIRCUITS
Now it’s time to nail down the basics of both the normal and low-level circuit at Tauranga on New Zealand’s North Island, learning the downwind checklist and cementing your aiming point skills.
VFR 04. LOCAL FLIGHT
Leave the airfield and travel across the New Zealand countryside in your first taste of flight in uncontrolled airspace before performing an Overhead Join.
VFR 05. NIGHT VFR
Discover both the challenges and rewards of taking to the skies after darkness falls over Lake Ontario, relying more on your instrumentation to guide you safely from Toronto to your destination.

Behold the stunning New Zealand South Island as you make a quick hop out of Milford Sound to Martins Bay before settling in on a long stretch to Queenstown, marvelling at the snow-capped mountains and meandering rivers.
VFR 12. VFR SKILLS TEST
Once you are confident with your skills, take your virtual Skills Test and fly a full flight profile with your examiner, to put what you've learned to the test.

Known Limitations
- Whilst we’ve tried to endeavour to spawn the aircraft on the threshold of the runway, whilst the position is correct, the heading of the aircraft might be not aligned correctly to the runway. However, when taking off, realign the aircraft and you are good to go!
- The aircraft can roll on spawn due to the slope of the runway, just be prepared to apply the parking brake on spawn.
- There has been the rare occasion where the aircraft spawns in the air, a simple reload of the scenario will fix that.
- Waypoints on the ND won't show the actual waypoint and instead shows a custom waypoint until MSFS is updated with a fix.
We are working on these issues and will deploy a fix to these as soon as we are able.
