The airport has seen significant increase in traffic over the years - A major renovation project is currently underway to ultimately completely replace the existing terminal, which is not scheduled to be completed until 2027.
The airport offers a great launch point to explore the surrounding North Carolina landscapes or the nearby point of interest - Biltmore Estate – the largest privately-owned home in the United States.

The Linamar Light Metals building, a prominent building just west of the airfield has been added as it is absent in the default scenery - The default KAVL scenery has the runway incorrectly positioned to the left of the actual runway. This is where the temporary runway existed prior to the opening of the new runway in 2020. This scenery corrects the runways and surrounding taxiways – allowing for proper RNAV and ILS approaches. - Animated rotating model of KAVL’s ground radar. - Animated jetways - Three hangar parking spots to store your private aircraft.
