Focus and Limits
Instrument Simming 21st Century describes and explains advanced aviation knowledge needed for truly realistic instrument simulations. It applies to most aircraft, airports, airspaces, and simulators. It does not focus on any particular airport, aircraft, airspace, or simulator.
This manual is for home flight-simulation computer programs. It is based on real aviation laws, regulations, and procedures so home flight-simulation enthusiasts can maximize their enjoyment. Because some aspects of home flight-simulation games are not exactly like real-world aviation, some information in this book is not exactly like real flight. That is why Instrument Simming 21st Century is not intended for and should not be used for real-world flight or lessons. No liability is accepted for any misuse of this manual. – Bill Stack, author
Use Your Time Productively
Don’t lose valuable flight-simming opportunities searching the internet for flimsy freebies. Most are worth their cost. Ftldave says it best:
“YouTube is hit or miss. Sometimes there's great, informative content, other times the videos are useless and unintelligible. How much time do you want to spend searching for the former, how much time to waste with the latter? As is often said about open software, the same is true for this: It's free if your time has no value to you. ”
Flight simmers have trusted, benefitted, and enjoyed my instructional books since 1997.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
A lot of time and effort has been invested by me and others toward making a quality product that is useful to people. Any book with physical defects will be replaced at no cost. If you can show that the content of Instrument Simming 21st Century is not as described, your money will be refunded. If you find facts that you believe are in error, please let me know so I can evaluate them. – Bill Stack, Author

Bob Dispatcher is a desktop content manager for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. It keeps your add-on library organized, helps you get off the ground faster, and replaces the time you used to spend manually toggling packages before every flight.
What Bob does
- View every add-on Bob has scanned across your library folders in one place. Filter by type, region, country, or developer, search by name, and switch between grid and list view. You can also drag a . zip, . rar, . 7z, or loose folder onto the page, and Bob will extract, classify, and install it after your confirmation.
- Import a SimBrief OFP or enter your route manually. Bob identifies the airports, scenery, and aircraft your flight needs, then enables exactly what is required. If you choose, it can also disable everything else.
- Set the order of the apps you normally open before a flight, such as chart tools, virtual airline software, voice apps, and weather utilities. Then launch them all with a single click.
- Create a directional map of how your add-ons depend on each other. When you enable a parent item, Bob can automatically enable every related child item as well.
- See every airport you own plotted on a globe. Select a marker to enable or disable that airport instantly.
- Check the coverage of your owned airports against every GSX profile installed on your system. Each airport also includes a full-page diagram view for parking positions, pushback routes, and gates.
- Access a clean read-and-write view of the MSFS master package manifest. Bob uses a backup-first approach, so you can make changes with confidence and restore things if needed.
- Clear shader caches for NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Windows D3D, and the MSFS rolling cache when stutters appear after a simulator or driver update. Each task has its own button, with no command line required
- Keep guides, manuals, and reference material organized alongside your add-ons

Diana 2 and the tools around it represent over a year and a half of solo work — nights, weekends, and more hours than I can count. I’m one person, wearing every hat: 3D modeler, programmer, designer, tester, technical writer, and support team.
I’m proud of what this has become, and I’m committed to making it better. But I’m also human. There are things that aren’t perfect yet, features still on the roadmap, mistakes, and corners of Diana that need more polish. I know that, and I’m working on it every day — one fix and one addition at a time, in a way that I can realistically sustain long-term.
If you find something that’s broken or missing, please know it’s not for lack of care — it’s the reality of building something ambitious alone. A kind, specific bug report does more to move things forward than frustration ever will. I read everything, I take it all seriously, and your feedback genuinely shapes what gets built next.
If you are of the mindset that you are purchasing a perfected product that meets the highest levels of real-world precision and technical depth, this may not be the right product for you — although reaching that level is absolutely the long-term goal.
If you purchased and aren’t happy, I will gladly offer a refund — provided the product is uninstalled.
Thank you for flying with me. It means more than you know.
