On August 28, 1997, Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport was completed and opened to navigation. It was relocated from the civil part of Zhengzhou Yanzhuang Airport. In May 2002, the aviation port of Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport passed the national acceptance inspection and was later renamed Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport. On December 29, 2007, the T1 terminal building of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport was officially put into use. On December 22, 2015, the T2 terminal building of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport was officially put into use. On January 7, 2016, the second runway of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport was put into use. On March 30, 2016, the T1 terminal building of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport was decommissioned. On September 7, 2022, the North Cargo Area of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport was officially put into use.

The civil aviation apron has 149 passenger aircraft parking positions and 25 cargo aircraft parking positions. The first runway is 3,400 meters long and 45 meters wide, and the second runway is 3,600 meters long and 60 meters wide.
