Joliet Regional Airport (KJOT) was established in 1930, making it one of the older continuously operating airports in Illinois. Its location southwest of Chicago gave it early strategic importance, especially as aviation began expanding beyond major metropolitan hubs. During World War II, the airport was used for military training and support operations, a common role for regional airports at the time. This period helped justify infrastructure improvements that later benefited civilian aviation. After the war, KJOT transitioned fully into a civilian and general aviation airport. As Chicago’s airspace became increasingly congested, Joliet served as a reliever airport, supporting:
Private pilots, Flight training, Business and corporate aviation, Aircraft maintenance operations. The airport steadily expanded its runway system, hangars, and fuel services.

727-100 On Sale
First flown in 1963 and entering airline service in 1964, the Boeing 727-100 helped define the early jet era. It was built for real-world flexibility. You get the distinctive trijet layout with the S-duct, strong low-speed performance from its high-lift wing, and the practical built-in airstair for airports with limited ground support. Later, it proved just as capable in freight operations. That mix is exactly why the 727 remains a favourite for pilots and simmers who enjoy classic, hands-on jet... Katowice International Airport (Polish: Port Lotniczy Katowice) (IATA: KTW, ICAO: EPKT) is an international airport located in Pyrzowice in the Silesian Voivodeship in southern Poland. It serves the Upper Silesian metropolitan area and a large part of southern Poland, with convenient access from Katowice and neighbouring cities. The airport features a 3,200 m runway (08/26) capable of handling wide-body operations, multiple passenger terminals and dedicated cargo infrastructure, reflecting its role as both a high-volume leisure gateway and one of Poland's key air freight airports.
The airfield's origins are military. Construction began in 1940 under German occupation as a Luftwaffe base, built for durable wartime operations and eastern logistics. After 1945 the site came under Soviet control and later was transferred to the Polish Air Force, remaining a military installation through the Cold War era, with infrastructure and procedures shaped primarily by defence requirements rather than commercial aviation.
A major transition started after Poland's political and economic transformation. In the early 1990s the airport opened to civilian traffic and began developing passenger infrastructure, initially modest but steadily expanding as demand grew in a densely populated region. Charter operations became increasingly important, providing direct access to holiday destinations and establishing Katowice as a practical departure point for leisure travel.
The early 2000s brought rapid growth driven by the rise of low-cost carriers and the continued strength of charters. To accommodate increasing movements, the airport expanded terminals, apron and landside facilities, while simultaneously developing cargo operations supported by strong road connectivity and a central European location. This dual profile - passenger and freight - became a defining feature of EPKT and supported year-round utilisation beyond seasonal peaks.
In recent years, further investments have focused on capacity, efficiency and resilience, including terminal upgrades, additional stands and modernised airfield systems. Today, Katowice Airport stands as one of Poland's most important regional airports, combining high passenger throughput with a significant cargo role and a mature operational profile shaped by decades of transformation.
- A high-quality model of EPKT Katowice International Airport, featuring the up-to-date version with extensive details across passenger terminals, cargo areas and airside infrastructure
- FPS-friendly design with advanced night textures, dynamic lighting, PBR materials and high-definition mesh including accurate runway profiles

Airport Overview:
Exeter Airport is located in the south west of England, roughly 5 miles east of the city centre. It serves as a regional airport for this, acting as a key hub for both domestic and international holiday flights.
Airport History:
Exeter Airport opened in 1937 as a small but important regional airfield, and within a year it had a functioning terminal and flights to the Channel Islands. Civil aviation paused at the outbreak of the Second World War, when the airfield was taken over by the Air Ministry. During the war it was heavily developed, gaining hard runways, new hangars, and a variety of RAF units, including fighter squadrons that helped defend the southwest. It also hosted research groups such as the Gunnery Research Unit, which carried out weapons trials. After the war, Exeter gradually shifted back to civilian use and fully transferred to the Ministry of Civil Aviation in 1947. Throughout the 1950s and 60s, scheduled flights—especially to the Channel Islands—helped the airport grow, and local councils eventually took ownership in the early 1970s. Over the following decades, the terminal was expanded, the runway improved, and new passenger facilities were added. Management changed hands several times, leading to significant investment, including new lounges, resurfaced runways, and a long-term development plan. In recent years, Exeter Airport has modernized further under Regional & City Airports, continuing to serve as a key gateway for Devon and the wider southwest region.
Today:
In the 12 months to March 2024, Exeter Airport recorded 435,000 passengers, up 8% on the previous year. Operators include Ryanair, TUI airways, KLM, Aer Lingus, Aurigny and Blue Islands
Navigation Details:
Runway 08/26: 2076 m × 46 m (6811 ft × 148 ft). ILS Frequency: Both Runways 08 and 26 share the ILS frequency of 109. 90 MHz, with respective inbound course headings approximately 077° (RWY 08) and 257° (RWY 26)
Performance optimised:
This scenery is made with performance in mind. As such details you don't see from the cockpit of your aircraft while flying in and out are kept to a minimum. So don't except to walk through the terminal or other parts that can only be seen by slewing to other areas. I believe most flight simmers, fly in and fly out, and the want it to be smooth. Sacrifices have to be made to achieve this goal. If you want to explore the airport coffee shop or checkin, then this is NOT the product for you.
