This is Punta Cana, the Caribbean's second busiest airport. The fifth incarnation of TropicalSim's famous holiday destination brings the new modern passenger terminal as well as new apron, taxiways and other changes in the airport over the past few years. The oldschool way of boarding via an airstair is the norm around here. You probably already guessed, but no ILS either, however there is a plan to install this navaid in the future. The airport has experienced a very rapid growth, from 3. 5 million passengers when we last released this airport in 2007 to 5. 1 million passengers in 2013.
There are flights from and to Punta Cana from a wide range of world destinations in Central America, Europe, North America, South America and also the Caribbean itself.

To meet a 1953 post-war US Navy requirement for a high-performance multirole flying-boat, the Glenn L Martin Company offered its very advanced Model 275 design. The first XP6M-1 prototype was flown on 14 July 1955, the second following on 18 May 1956, and Martin received orders for six pre-production YP6M-1 boats powered by Allison J71-A4 afterburning turbojets, each developing a maximum 13,000 lbs of thrust. Since 1998, it has been managed by the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT). In 2013, the airport handled over 1,000,000 passengers and 7,000 passenger flights. The airport had international flight facilities and served a few international routes to Macau, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Kunming, Haikou, Hangzhou, Changs... Mae Fah Luang - Chiang Rai International Airport (IATA: CEI, ICAO: VTCT) is in the city of Chiang Rai in northern Thailand. The airport is about 8 km from the city center. Since 1998, it has been managed by the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT). In 2013, the airport handled over 1,000,000 passengers and 7,000 passenger flights. The airport had international flight facilities and served a few international routes to Macau, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Kunming, Haikou, Hangzhou, Changsha, Xishuangbanna, Shenzhen, and Chengdu, all of which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since travel restrictions were imposed in China, there have been no international commercial flights connecting Chiang Rai to the global market. Thus, the airport has been seeking other possible routes to connect to such as South Korea.
In 2014, Airports of Thailand said that they would expand Chiang Rai airport. The plans include building an additional taxiway and more shops and possibly extending the runway. This should be completed in 2030.
Chiang Rai International Airport was named "Mae Fah Luang", after Princess Srinagarindra, mother of the previous monarch, Bhumibol Adulyadej, reigning under the dynastic name of Rama IX.

Instead the actual wind in the simulator, at the aircraft's position, is analyzed for any wind shifts / variations thus inducing the turbulence effects to more realistic positions (eg. where wind direction and / or speed changes). This allows to open the envelope to a global level instead of being limited to SIGMET's CAT or TS areas!
Terrain turbulence feature is also added in this version, extending the RealTurb turbulence effects also to lower altitudes, when flying near terrain (with wind blowing from the terrain direction).
An approach with wind direction being from the terrain side will now feel different compared to the approach with wind direction being from the sea or relatively flat ground.
In-Cloud turbulence is another feature, which analyzes cloud density when flying into clouds, to provide dynamic turbulence effects. In this way, a certain cloud density is required for the effects to be present in the first place, allowing also for dynamic effects strength, again based on the cloud density.

The Winjeel makes it's way to MSFS. The Winjeel is a two-three seat, low wing, fixed undercarriage tail dragger. Construction is all metal with fabric covered control surfaces. Power is provided by a 450hp Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior nine cylinder radial engine driving a two bladed Hamilton Standard variable pitch propeller.
The Winjeel was the Royal Australian Air Force's primary piston trainer from 1955 to 1975. The Winjeel replaced the Tiger Moth and Wackett aircraft and was itself replaced by the NZAI CT-4 Airtrainer.
During the Vietnam war America's use of Forward Air Control (FAC) aircraft had proved to be a great asset so in 1969 four Winjeel's were modified for use in this role by the addition of a smoke grenade dispenser and upgraded communications equipment. FAC Winjeel's were not used in combat but were used in training. Finally in 1994 the FAC Winjeel's were replaced by Pilatus PC-9 turboprops which brought an end to the Winjeel's nearly 40 years of service.
A total of 62 Winjeels were produced from 1954 to 1958 and delivered to the RAAF. 2 prototype aircraft (CAC-22) were produced in 1951 and required extensive testing and modifications to arrive at the final design of the Winjeel.
Original plans called for the prototypes to be fitted with Pratt & Whitney Wasps and CAC's own engine design in the production aircraft. This engine was a seven cylinder radial called the R-795 Cicada. In 1951 the Cicada program was scrapped and Winjeels were all fitted with Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior engines (the same engine used in De Havilland Beavers).
Interestingly, for a trainer, the Winjeels had three seats. Both the RAF and RAAF had specified three seats for their post WWII trainers. The theory being it would be possible to train two pilots at once, one being instructed whilst the other watched. This theory did not last long.
According to the Australian civil aircraft register there are 30 Winjeels currently registered. This FSX version is based on VH-OPJ (serial no A85-429 ) which is operated by Classic Aero Adventure Flights in Ballina NSW (http://www. classicaero. com. au). This particular aircraft has been modified to fit an additional seat to make it a four seater aircraft.
