It is one of the largest and best equipped airports in the interior of the state. The maintenance of the airport is carried out by the municipal government. In a recent study released on September 17, 2014 at the Airport Infra Expo & Aviation Expo, in São Paulo, the 100 regional airports in Brazil with the greatest potential for development were listed. On a scale that varies between Very High, High, Medium and Low development, Dourados airport was classified as "High" level of development, ranking third in the Midwest region, losing only to Anápolis (GO) and Rondonópolis. (MT). And in the general classification, it was in 35th place, among the 100 studied, with a Market Quality Index (IQM) of 31. 75 points.
