MISSISSIPPI RIVER BRIDGES ST LOUIS TO GULF MSFS
This package covers over 1000 miles of the “Mighty” Mississippi River from Oakville (about 10 miles south of St Louis) to the Gulf of Mexico and has been upgraded to include a complete overhaul of the bridges, canals and waterways of New Orleans. The other major cities covered on the Mississippi are Memphis, and Baton Rouge.

Included are about 2000 water traffic fixes, port cranes, river bank fixes, water fixes for river bank facilities, and vegetation fixes.
In New Orleans the canals and waterways have been improved and 14 bridges over the main canals have been modeled. These add significantly to the realism when flying in or out of any of the airports in New Orleans. The Naval Air Station JRB New Orleans airport has been improved with Asobo generic hangars, control tower and windsock to make the airport more realistic.
The package has 40 bridges, 24 on the Mississippi and 2 on the Ohio River at Cairo where the Ohio flows into the Mississippi, and 14 on New Orleans canals.
The Mississippi is a huge river and floods vast areas each spring creating prime agricultural land. The bridges along the river are correspondingly huge and the Gramercy Bridge and the Crescent City Connection Bridges in New Orleans are among the 10 longest cantilever road bridges in the world. The Crescent City Connection Bridges were modeled by Asobo in WU-X USA and have been removed from this package to eliminate the conflict. This upgrade also fixes terrain issues caused by WU-X on all the bridges.
POI’s have been added for the bridges. The first one going south is at Chester beside KPCD Perryville Regional Airport, the last are in New Orleans.
This package complements the “St Louis Bridges on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers” package.

The 650 mile, 1000 kilometer, Tennessee River is the 6th largest river by discharge rate in N America and has many large bridges and dams. This is about 30 miles, 50 kilometer, east of Cairo, Illinois where the Ohio River joins the Mississippi River. The river is important for moving materials by barge and has 9 dams and locks to facilitate the traffic.
River barges and rail bridges in the sim are mostly covered by water but this package brings them and the river to life. Models of dams and bridges have replaced the default or missing items in the sim. Many of the bridges are very large, built in the early 1900’s and are still in use, but many have been demolished and replaced by more modern designs.
The MSFS scenery is a vast improvement over previous flight sims. However bridges over large waterways, rivers or other bodies of water are very noticeable and are an eyesore destroying realism. Rkbridger packages solve that issue with bridge packages which show the bridges in their true magnificence and also improves the entire landscape along the stretch of water modeled. All bridges are modeled in the correct architectural style with appropriate night lighting and traffic flowing on the bridges.

Photogrammetry must be ON to ensure models integrate correctly with the sim.
The package works with both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 but due to terrain elevation errors in MSFS2024 a few bridges do not currently integrate into MSFS2024 correctly.

The native MSFS scenery presentation, which includes photogrammetry, greatly improves on its predecessors, but the depiction of bridges (and other types of open-frame structures) as solid walls or dams continues to be an annoyance. Each bridge is fully hand-modeled to a high degree of accuracy and detail, and includes PBR materials, accurate lighting, accurate road striping, and many other custom details such as custom-modeled light fixtures and toll plazas. All bridges utilize LOD models tuned to balance appearance and performance. Many bridges also include shoreline or terraforming corrections in the vicinity for the best possible appearance. Bridge approaches are modeled where they exist in real life, so photogrammetry should not be needed (though still recommended).
MSFS2024 notes: all models have been recompiled for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 using the current SDK tools. Lighting and LOD models have also been reconfigured.
