Besides the 8,400-square-foot (780 m2) terminal building built in 2015, there are nearly 400 aircraft storage hangar units, a corporate-style hangar building containing 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) of space and an aircraft storage shelter.
The Airport is a General Aviation Reliever Airport which serves private, business and corporate tenants and customers. KLVK serves primarily the region with a population of over 300,000 residents. Most of the airport's 460 tenants are Livermore and Pleasanton residents.

The airport has two parallel runways: 9/27 (asphalt and grass) 30 metres wide and 1000 metres long (the grass runway is 700 metres long). In 2001, it was decided to extend the runway running in a west-east direction to 1800 m. Due to a lack of finances, the expansion plans have been on hold since 2005. With effect from January 1, 2009, the operation of the airfield was leased from the municipal airport Magdeburg GmbH to the private FMB Flugplatz Magdeburg Betriebsgesellschaft mbH for an initial period of 10 years.
There are neither charter nor scheduled flights. The runway is too short for some of the jets in question. The airfield is used primarily by aviation enthusiasts (glider pilots, parachutists), ultralight pilots and private pilots as well as for sightseeing flights.

The Airport underwent a $15 million terminal redevelopment initiative to construct a new, two-story terminal building as the old terminal was located within an unsafe distance from Runway 17/35. The project's construction commenced in April 2018 and was completed in 2020.

In 1951, the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M*A*S*H) in South Korea is assigned two new surgeons, "Hawkeye" Pierce and "Duke" Forrest, who arrive in a stolen Army Jeep. They are insubordinate, womanizing, mischievous rule-breakers, but they soon prove to be excellent combat surgeons. Other characters already stationed at the camp include the bumbling commanding officer Henry Blake, his hyper-competent chief clerk Radar O'Reilly, and the head nurse Margaret Houlihan nicknamed "Hot Lips". <... Directed by Robert Altan, the film won the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film, later named the Palme d'Or, at the 1970 Cannes Film Festival. In 1996, M*A*S*H was included in the annual selection of 25 motion pictures added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.
