General Alfredo Vásquez Cobo International Airport (IATA: LET, ICAO: SKLT) is an airport located on the outskirts of Leticia, on the road to Tarapacá, Colombia. It is the largest airport in the south of the country and in the Colombian department of Amazonas. This airport is the gateway to the jungle region of Colombia.
It has a single runway approximately 3,000 meters long by 40 meters wide for the entry of large-capacity aircraft, thanks to its great distance from the capital city. A passenger terminal with three passenger service lounges, one that was for the airline Copa Airlines Colombia with elite partners, but from the moment the airline left the route, the lounge was free. Another room is for the airline LAN Colombia and the state airline Satena, and a last new room, built for the airline Avianca.
The airport has souvenir shops and handicrafts typical of the region, with a waiting room and a landing room, and a control tower for aeronautical control, which has increased in recent years.
It has two hangars for cargo airlines, an A1 jet fuel station for arriving planes and a platform for a capacity of 5 aircraft that has been intervened to improve the airport service. As of 2012, an air base of the Colombian Air Force (FAC) was inaugurated, which ends the runway at the northern head (Numbering 21). To strengthen border security. In the middle of 2015, the remodeling works of the Amazonas airport facilities will begin.
On February 3, 2020, AerCaribe, together with the authorities of the region and Aerocivil, made the first trip to the recently remodeled airport with regular cargo flights to and from Bogotá.

It is located on the banks of the Transamazon Highway at 3. 5 km — towards the bridge over the Itacaiúnas River to Itupiranga — in the Quindangues district, in the urban core of Cidade Nova.
History
The history of the airport in Marabá dates back to the 1930s, when Brigadier Lysias Augusto Rodrigues and engineer Américo Barbosa de Oliveira, led the opening and construction of a landing strip in the future area of Nova Marabá. The inauguration is marked by the arrival of the first aircraft, a single-engine Waco CSO C-27, from Correio Aéreo Nacional, piloted by Brigadier Rodrigues, on November 17, 1935.
In 1940 and 1946, the runway was expanded and started to be managed by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), serving as an auxiliary air base during World War II. Asphalt would only come in 1966/1967.
With the imminence of the use of the Nova Marabá area for the construction of the future city of Marabá, the airstrip was transferred in 1973, by the FAB and the Superintendence for the Development of the Amazon (SUDAM), to Cidade Nova, at the back of the traditional neighborhood from Amapá.
Until 1978, João Correa da Rocha Airport had a precarious take-off and landing strip, and its movement was carried out by Douglas DC-3 aircraft and air taxis.
The connection with the city center was poor, given its location beyond the Itacaiúnas River, which separates the airport from the historic center of the city. At that time there was no road bridge over this river and the traffic of people and vehicles took place by boats and ferries, which made its use and development extremely difficult.
The donation contract from the Municipality of Marabá to the Federal Government was defined on September 14, 1977 (Process filed with the Ministry of Finance under No. MF 0768-81. 479/69). The new airport structure was built by the Ministry of Aeronautics, through the Amazon Airports Commission (COMARA). It opened on May 20, 1978.
On November 3, 1980, the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero) took over the airport, setting up in the same decade one of the most valuable Brazilian air bridges in that period, connecting Marabá to the Serra Pelada gold mining zone, with regular flights.
In 2010, in honor of journalist João Corrêa da Rocha, founder of the newspaper Notícias de Marabá, Marabá airport was named after him.

Joseph Sablatnig (Joseph Sablatnig was owner of the Fokker-Sablatnig, Deutsche Flugzeuge, Deutsche Motoren, Flugzeug Gesellschaft mbH, Berlin) were the first men in the sky over Carinthia and Klagenfurt.
In World War I and II, the airport of Klagenfurt was operated as a military airfield, and indeed Klagenfurt Airport was founded in 1914 as a military airport. The civil opening of Klagenfurt Airport on 17 May 1925, was an event for the City of Klagenfurt as well as for Carinthia.
In June 1929, the pilot hero of World War I, Julius Fedrigoni Edler von Etschthal, has the function of flight director of the airport until 1939.
After the end of World War II, Julius Fedrigoni was returned to Annabichl, he worked with low-budget flight operations. On 1 January 1952, Korv. Kpt. Julius Fedrigoni founded the Committee city of Klagenfurt and he was flight director until 1956.
Already in the years 1926 to 1938, seven airlines operated from Klagenfurt Airport. Countries like Germany, Italy, Yugoslavia and of course domestic flights to all major cities in Austria were connected with Klagenfurt. After 1950, the airport was connected with countries like Brazil, Israel, Venezuela, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom and others.
Recent developments
In spring 2014 the airport's home carrier Austrian Airlines announced the closure of their ticketing and service counters at Klagenfurt Airport due to decreasing demand, additional services will be instead provided directly at the check-in counters. [3] In April 2015, Austrian Airlines also announced that a closure of their domestic route to Vienna is under consideration within the next few years based on economic reasons. [4] In the same year, the state government announced plans to partly sell its stakes in the airport to private investors.
As the airport suffered from a major decrease of passenger numbers in recent years it has been suggested by the management to establish major logistics and cargo operators here, which might be supported by the freight shipment operations handled at the relatively closely located harbours of the Adriatic Sea. The airport already features road and rail connections. [6] However, Austrian Airlines stated later that the airport is not sufficient for cargo operations due to noise complaints and the night curfew. [4]
In October 2015, the Austrian military announced it would end all operations and close its helicopter base at Klagenfurt Airport by the end of 2015.
In August 2020, Ryanair announced plans to leave the airport and terminate their route to Palma de Mallorca Airport, which had been operated as a wetlease by Lauda.
