aviaFlightMonitor will monitor and analyze many of the flight parameters that airlines use in their Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) programs. These programs are used to gain operational insight into how well flight crews are performing and flying approaches. It’s a key element of safe airline operations.
The goal behind aviaFlightMonitor is to give you a similar feedback tool so that you can analyze and improve as you fly your aircraft. Like the other apps offered under the aviaServer solution, the target audience is the serious flight simmer striving for the most realistic environment to operate the virtual aircraft.
By making use of the latest real navdata, aviaFlightMonitor will track your approaches automatically and provide a detailed analysis after your rollout.
Stabilized Approaches
aviaFlightMonitor (AFM) tracks the last 4000ft of each approach. Approximately 15 seconds after landing, a report is automatically generated giving you feedback on identified risks.
We’ve heard it before – a good landing is the direct result of a stabilized approach. But, what exactly is that?
There are multiple ‘gates’ airlines use to define stabilized criteria. While these gates will differ between each airline, AFM will use these ones:
- 1000ft Gate – in IMC conditions, this is typically used by all airlines to determine stable approach conditions. 1000 feet above the threshold, you are expected to
- be in final landing configuration: this means no more changes to flaps and landing gear down and locked.
- have a stable attitude. AFM imposes a pitch angle limit between +10° and -3° and a bank angle limit of 20°
- have a stable vertical speed. AFM accepts a value between -100 and -1200 fpm
- have a stable approach profile: Be on centerline and on glideslope. AFM limits this to 1 dot deviation high/low and left/right
- have a stable airspeed. AFM expects the airspeed not to deviate more than 10 knots from your entire approach profile
- have stabilized engine performance. AFM imposes a 35% N1 (for Jets) and 10% Np (for turbo props)
- follow the runway track. AFM allows a 10° deviation.
- 500ft Gate. Some airlines are more lenient in VMC conditions and don’t impose the limits as mentioned above, but many airlines will use the 1000ft Gate both for IMC and for VMC conditions.
- As you descend further, the limitations become tighter. As an example, the maximum allowed tailwind component over the threshold will be 10 knots. Also, at this point, the lateral distance between the aircraft and the runway centerline is expected to be less than 10% of the runway width.
- The final checks are performed just prior to touchdown, where, as an example, the aircraft’s heading is expected to be within 10° of the runway’s course. Your touchdown point will be evaluated and should not be 1000ft beyond the Aiming Point. A touchdown prior to the Threshold will automatically result in a high risk assessment. A vertical speed beyond 600 fpm will be considered a high risk landing as well, due to potential structural damage.
Scoring
Each report will have a final score and the higher the score, the more risks were identified. An ideal score of 0 should be your goal but of course, airmanship may dictate executing approaches in circumstances that won’t result in a 0 score result. At the end of the day – you are the Pilot in Command and will need to justify your score.

So, for example, an AI pilot who has five points in ‘Bungee Warrior’ will be subject to less in-flight cargo damage as a result of rough handling than one who has less (or no) points in that skill. DDI (DYNAMIC DRAG INDEX)
The SSW F/RF-104G uses the Dynamic Drag Index concept; i. e. when you load/drop external loads not only is the GW changed but also the drag coefficient is affected and the model aerodynamics change accordingly. This is particularly important in the F-104 where external loads affect greatly the dynamic behaviour of the model.

Just Flight are excited to bring you the 146 ‘Whisper Jet’ – featuring the 100, 200 and 300 series of this classic British airliner. The design process of what was to become the 146-100 began under Hawker Siddeley in 1973, when the iconic high T-tail, short undercarriage, four engines and distinctive airbrake were chosen to produce a regional airliner with short-field performance and quiet operation. The 146-100 first flew in 1981, followed by the stretched 200 series in 1982 and the 300 series in 1988.
The Royal Air Force purchased three 146-100s in 1986 and these were operated by The Queen's Flight, designated the CC. Mk2 ‘Statesman’ and equipped with VIP cabins. The aircraft were used to transport the British royal family and senior members of the UK military and government.
The 146 was also popular with cargo operators due to its excellent capacity and low engine noise, allowing for night flights into city airports. Two cargo variants were developed: the convertible passenger and freight variant (QC) and the freight-only Quiet Trader (QT). The Royal Air Force also operated two 200QC aircraft, designated the C. Mk3.
Eight variants of the 146 are included in this product – the 100 to 300 passenger variants, the 200QC and QT, 300 QT, RAF CC. Mk2 ‘Statesman’ and C. Mk3 – offering a wide variety of configurations, ranges and flight operations across the globe.
The exterior models are stunningly detailed, featuring 8K and 4K textures for incredible clarity and the latest Physical Based Rendering (PBR) material technology to produce realistic metallic, plastic and glass surfaces. Realistic animations include trailing-edge flap mechanisms, spoilers, large tail-mounted airbrake and all passenger and cargo doors.
The Captain and First Officer positions in the cockpit are modelled with hundreds of functional switches, knobs and controls. The aircraft features complex custom-coded systems based on real-world FCOMs, including hydraulic, electrical, fuel and pressurisation, and the cockpit is also fitted with a functional Thrust Management System (TMS) and comprehensive navigation equipment which includes traditional navigation equipment for tracking VORs, NDBs and ILSs, as well as two types of FMS for RNAV navigation.
The aircraft are brought to life with immersive dynamic lighting and 3D Wwise sounds, with unique flight dynamics for each variant and custom effects from condensation and contrails to realistic exterior lighting.
The 146 was flown all around the world and over 40 airline liveries from the UK, USA, Europe and Australia are included, bringing you many iconic airlines and paint schemes.

EDFR - Rothenburg Airfield
Welcome to the Rothenburg ob der Tauber EDFR commercial airfield, probably one of the most popular approach destinations for VFR pilots due to its beautiful location and the lovely old town of Rothenburg, which can be quickly reached by rental bikes.
The airfield is located at 1309 ft. which corresponds to 399 m, about 3 kilometres east of the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Starting in 1957, flying took place on the current site, which was then expanded into an airfield in 1960 and in... Welcome to the Rothenburg ob der Tauber EDFR commercial airfield, probably one of the most popular approach destinations for VFR pilots due to its beautiful location and the lovely old town of Rothenburg, which can be quickly reached by rental bikes.
The airfield is located at 1309 ft. which corresponds to 399 m, about 3 kilometres east of the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Starting in 1957, flying took place on the current site, which was then expanded into an airfield in 1960 and in the course of the 1960s, two hangars and a workshop were added. Originally, the runway was asphalted to 450m in the 70s, before it was extended to 600m and a tower was built. From 1980, the runway was given permission for customs and passenger handling, and in 2003 the runway was extended to just under 1000m.
Today the runway has dimensions of 950m x 20m asphalt with alignments RWY 03 and RWY 21, the runway round elevation is 2500ft. MSL (Main Sea Level).
The radio frequency is 126. 360 and the maximum take-off weight (MTOW) is 5700kg for all aircraft. The Aero Club Rothenburg o. d. T. e. V. is located at the airfield and has about 150 members in the field of powered flight, gliding and ultralight.
The airfield has several service buildings, a tower, six hangars and a restaurant. The fuel station contains JETA1 as well as AVGAS.
The special thing about Rothenburg is the approach, which takes place around a slope near the airfieldas a reward for a nice flight, you then borrow bicycles and experience a wonderful day in the historic district of Rothenburg, 3 km away.
- Buildings, restaurant, hangars and gas station at the airfield were modeled after the original - for this purpose the airfield was flown to in real and many detail shots were taken.
- Close cooperation with the airfield operator on site to create an atmosphere like in reality - special thanks to the local air sports club for drone shots of the airfield as well as the flight control.
