The Hong Kong Kai Tak 1998 scenery is dedicated to the last days of Kai Tak. The scenery specifically shows many details, which were unique for that time. The following highlights are included:
- Updated version 1. 4: SU8 supported and corrected Chinese texts at the parking deck and the Ads.
- Updated version 1. 3: SU7 based road and roadlight exlusion - ziggy runway boundaries flattened - improved grass patches along the Kai Tak river.
- Based on more user feedback -> Updated version 1. 2 released: Functional OLS (optical landing system) on the USS Abraham Lincoln in Victoria Harbour (limited visibility in VR), ship and runway lighting on the USS Abraham Lincoln, the radar tower at the end of South appron was added, runway markings corrected, scenery objects re-added, which were hidden due to SU5 changes, improved the East Apron asphalt coloring.
- Based on user feedback -> Updated version 1. 1 released: added the eye-catching pedestrian bridge behind the parking house, consistently colored roads around the terminal, moved a couple of static ships to avoid collisions with Samscence’s ships, added user documentation.
- No AI cars on the apron, taxiways and runway! - This scenery has resolved the issue with cars appearing at the wrong places, so you don’t need to set the road traffic density to 0%. - Terminal building - Highly detailed terminal building - Final state of the airport - Colors of apron markings and lines matching the final state of the airport. The same applies to the buildings. Even the old East Apron layout (as it was prior the 1992 expansion) is still visible by slightly different colored asphalt. Finally, as the USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in Hong Kong on July 4, 1998, the displayed scenery matches the reality at one single day: July 5, 1998, the day before Kai Tak was closed. - 3D airport shorelines – The airport shorelines are designed as 3D models for maximum realism. - Four aircraft bridges - Totally four aircraft bridges carefully crafted as 3D models. - Sloped bridge - The long bridge between South Apron and Taxiway B1 has a length of more than 250m and has modelled the shallow ramps from both sides meeting in the middle. Taxiing over it you need to apply power on the first half and then brakes on the second half! - 3D Kai Tak River - The Kai Tak Nullah (River) flows in a 3D riverbed right through the middle of the airport. As in reality, 10 bridges in total are crossing the Kai Tak River. - Hand drawn aerial image - As no aerial imagery in today standards exist from the airport, a hand drawn image is used as airport background with a resolution of more than 30kx30k-pixel. - Animated spectators - Exactly 1852 spectators are modelled in this scenery. While flying the final turn towards the runway, the people are waving with their arms! - Aircraft carrier - On July the fourth 1998, the USN NIMITZ class aircraft carrier CVN-72 USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in Hong Kong to celebrate Independence Day. So, the scenery contains a model of VCN-72 anchoring in Victoria Harbour. The details of the ship reflect the state of the late nineties. The carrier has a landable flight deck and an open hangar deck below, through which you can fly! - Shark lingering in the water - In the nineties, frequently shark attacks were recorded in the waters around Hong Kong. So, if you carefully follow the shoreline of the Kai Tak airport you will find a shark lingering under the water surface. - Watermasks - Subtle modelling of the shallow waters around the runway. - Realistic taxiway lines - Custom painted lines for taxiway. - Displaced DME - IGS 13 instrument approach with displaced DME to correctly indicate the runway threshold after the turn. - Fun challenge - As a “not really realistic but fun”-challenge, you can e. g. take off with from the long bridge to the East, turn left by 270 degrees and fly under the bridge, then turn to the West towards the USS Abraham Lincoln, fly at 40ft altitude through the aft hangar opening from one side to the other side of the carrier’s hull and then turn to land on the carrier! - Approach lights - Realistic approach lights placed on the roof of the social club at Durham Road. Approach lights with sequenced strobes show the path of the final turn. - KCR East Rail-line - (Static) trains have been added on the noticeable KCR East Rail-line, which marks the begin of the final turn on IGS 13. - SID’s and STAR’s - Fully scripted SID’s and STAR’s in compliance with the charts from https://xe. ivao. aero/pilot/vhhx/. - Based on large image database - Thousands of Kai Tak images were reviewed as baseline for modelling. Many rare photographs showed details in sparsely documented parts of the airport. - Performance optimized - Resource saving innovative tileable texture atlases. The history of Sandtoft dates back to 1944 when the airfield was an RAF base for the Halifax and Lancaster bombers. Nowadays the airfield sports an 886m tarmac runway with runway lights so can be utilised during both day and night. Due to the airfield having less restrictive access in comparison to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Sandtoft is the ideal location for those who are already qualified and wish to undertake aircraft self fly hire. As part of the Yorkshire Aero Club annual membership, our members now benefit from free landing fees at Sandtoft.

The aerodrome has four runways oriented south-north (02/20):
a bitumen track 965 meters long and 30 wide; a grass track 700 meters long and 80 wide, reserved for gliders and paratroopers for their landings. They are located on both sides of the paved mini-track. ; a mini asphalt track 443 meters long and 10 meters wide, reserved for microlights and gliders.
The aerodrome is not controlled but has a flight information service (AFIS) and an automatic broadcast service (ATIS). The calls are made on 129. 325 MHz for ATIS and 119. 100 MHz for AFIS.
Taxiways link the main runway with the various infrastructures of the aerodrome and with the aeropole6, area of ??economic activity mainly oriented towards aeronautics.
There is also a refueling station (UL 91, 100LL and Jet A1) and a restaurant.
To the west of the runways is a landing area for skydiving. In addition, all the airspace of this western part of the aerodrome is reserved for this sporting activity7.

- All trees now have normal and natural size, depending on region. Some trees have been enlarged (mostly within cities to match real life trees. Some trees have been reduced in other places. This is done based on research and studying images from Google and Bing data. You will notice denser vegetation in most areas.
Spring: Spring Season mod will change trees and shrubs to shades of beautiful spring colors within cities only. Forest and areas outside cities will have bright spring green colors only. You will find colorful trees such as cherry blossom, jacaranda, wisteria, etc. There are pink, purple, white, yellow colored trees.
Summer: All trees and shrubs now have beautiful shades of green and different sizes. Added a variety of tree types to each region. Added missing palm trees in some tropical areas. Added cactus to some of the desert areas.
Fall: This mod will convert trees all over the world into fall season colors. Tropical areas will have less fall colors since they stay mostly green all year round. This is a must have to bring the beauty of fall season into this amazing sim. All trees and shrubs have now beautiful brown, green, orange, yellow and red colors, depending on region.
Winter: Winter Mod changes most trees to multiple brown and gray colors. (except conifer trees) Brown/gray trees look much more natural in winter and with snow instead of green trees with snow. Most other trees and shrubs now have brown and pale green colors, depending on region.
Winter season does not automatically place snow in scenes. If you want to see snow, you will have to add snow manually in the weather setting or fly in an area in live weather to see snow. Bare winter trees are only placed in specific spots.

Extended mask to parts of the west USA. Added a new grey mask color which makes all runways and roads greyish instead of brown. Due to requests, brown color is still accessible for those who prefer brown color.
If you wish for runways and roads to be visible during heavy snow or live weather with snow, use 98%, 99% or 100% value in xml file. (instruction included). This will assure all runways and roads are always visible in any snowy condition.

I made a discovery that Tree LOD is related to latitude. LOD works best if you fly close or in Equator and it gets worse as you fly toward South and North Poles. Hopefully Asobo will fix the LOD soon.

Sitka spruce is one of the few species documented to exceed 300 ft (90 m) in height. Its name is derived from the community of *Sitka* in southeast Alaska, where it is prevalent. Its range hugs the western coast of Canada and the US, continuing south into northernmost California.

Added patches of American larch that turns yellow in fall. Tamarack (Larix laricina), also known as American larch, is a very unique member of the pine family — one that loses its needles in fall. Only one other conifer shares this deciduous nature — the bald cypress. These yellow pines can be spotted in following regions: Arizona and Northern Rockies and Banff national park in Canada where they grow naturally.

New features: 1- There are now 45 species/shapes of trees, shrubs and bushes in the seasons. 2- New giant pine trees in Sierra and Sequoia National forests. Example: https://i. imgur. com/XSy3Fps. jpg (this is currently being tested and will be updated)
Changes: 1- Added missing pine trees in New England area (North East USA) 2- Reduced fall and winter colors in northern Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, South Alabama, and Mississippi 3- Reduced tree density in some part of Arizona. 4- Added several new bushes/flowers in tropical areas. 5- Tree size adjustment in Florida Keys.

1- For those of you who are using Orbx Airport addon/mods, you may have seen different color trees around the airports. This is because Orbx, sometimes takes the trees from the opposite side of the earth which can be different season. To fix this, I have created 4 new SINGLE seasons called "Single_SeasonPack V. 35" which is available as free download. If you don't use orbx, you can still use the multi seasons. Single seasons means the whole planet (except tropical areas) will be one season. Tropicals will always remain green.
2- Added more cactus in Baja California desert and Gulf of California 3- Cactus colors fixed (from brown to green) 4- Added missing cactus in Las Vegas in winter season. 5- Added evergreen scots pine trees in rural areas in Europe. 6- Reduce the amount and sizes of bushes in Mojave desert, Baja California desert, Chihuahuan desert, Gulf of California xeric scrub, Sonoran desert bushes. 7- Removed some of the brown trees from Florida keys. 8- Added missing blossom trees in Chicago in spring season. 9- Replaced most deciduous trees with evergreen trees in southern and western France, and north of Spain.

The Campos Basin is one of the most important oil-producing regions in Brazil, responsible for more than 80% of the country's production. Since the discovery of the Garoupa field in 1974, the region has been crucial to the Brazilian economy.
My focus during the creation of this scenario was the most faithful recreation possible of the FPSOs in operation in the region. These vessels are true engineering marvels, allowing the extraction, processing and storage of oil directly at sea, sendi... The Campos Basin is one of the most important oil-producing regions in Brazil, responsible for more than 80% of the country's production. Since the discovery of the Garoupa field in 1974, the region has been crucial to the Brazilian economy.
My focus during the creation of this scenario was the most faithful recreation possible of the FPSOs in operation in the region. These vessels are true engineering marvels, allowing the extraction, processing and storage of oil directly at sea, sending gas directly to the continent and oil via ships, in an operation called offloading. They are essential for operations in deep waters, where the construction of fixed platforms would be unfeasible. Some submersible platforms and FPSOs portrayed in this scenario operate under ultra-deep wells, in the case of the Lula field it is one of the deepest wells in the region, operating at a depth of around 2,140 meters of water and more than 5,000 meters deep total, including sea soil.
I was in the region for 7 days in February 2024 collecting photos and data to help me recreate the vessels in 3D, and since then I have recreated Drilling Ships, Refining, Drilling and Accommodation Rigs, FPSOs and FSOs, Shuttle Ships, Tankers and Accommodation Ships .
I recreated several Offshore Supply Ships too, in versions with and without helipad.
There are a total of 108 helipads available for landing during the simulation, with 51 landmarks signaling the position of platforms and FPSOs.
The ships were recreated according to their real-world livery or company in February 2024, and their geographic positions are also from that date.

The scenario will undergo possible improvements and enhancements, as well as the inclusion of new FPSOs if they appear in the region in the real world.
It is important to say that this scenario does not cause conflicts with any world traffic add-ons you have, but it does add static ships in the Campos Basin region, so if there is third-party traffic coming into the region, this is not within my control.
The platforms were added as landmarks, so to get to them you need to mark your point of interest (POI) destination on the GPS. It is not possible to start the game directly on the stage's helipads, but only by flying over them.
